Vincent Robinson played basketball collegiately at Union County Collegeduring the 1989-1990 season earning 3rd team all conference honors. He transferred to Rutgers University-Newark to continue his academic and basketball career. Standing all of 5’9 he played power forward and center!!!!!!! Vincent was 2nd in the conference in rebounding at 9.2 rebounds per game and 6th in the conference in scoring at 16.8 points per game during the 1993-1994 season. Vincent was one of three players in the New Jersey Athletic Conference in the top ten in scoring and rebounding. He earned 2nd team all conference honors during his junior year and was a unanimous choice by teammates and coaches as team captain during his junior and senior seasons. A graduate of Rutgers University-Newark in 1997, Vincent has a double Master’s degree in Special Education and Education Administration from Somerset University. He’s a former varsity assistant coach at Irvington High School in Irvington, NJ during the 2002-03 season.

Vincent started the NIA Prep basketball program in 2008-09 serving as the Athletic Director, Head Coach and recruiting coordinator. As a 1st year program Robinson recruited some of the best players in NJ and NY. Robinson stepped in to coach the Eagles after the head coach left and lead the team to a 7-0 record culminated by winning the Apex Academy Regional Prep Championship. Six players were selected to all state Post-Grad teams by www.njhoops.com and the Star Ledger. NIA Prep was the only prep school in NJ chosen to play in the prestigious “National Prep School Invitational”. Every player from Robinson’s 2008-09 team received an athletic scholarship. Some of the schools that the players attended are University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Western Kentucky University, St. Peters College, University of Tenneessee-Martin, New Jersey Insititute of Technology, Dilliard University(NAIA) and Notre Dame College(NAIA) to name a few.

In 2009-10 NIA Prep team started the season 10-1 ranked # 10 in the ESPN Prep poll. NIA Prep beat the #1 and #3 prep teams in Georgia by a combined 57 points. During the 10-1 run Robinson’s team average margin of victory was 23 points and held team’s to 64.2 points per game. Robinson’s recruiting class was ranked in the top 10 in the nation by Bret Swanson of Swanny’s prep recruiting. Robinson resigned from NIA Prep on Novemener 17, 2009.

The Robinson School was established in 2010 to assist inner city student athletes with meeting standardized test scores (ACT/SAT), college prep classes, mentoring, academic enhancement, community service, basketball skill development and college exposure. In our 1st year of existence every student athlete (16) received an academic or athletic scholarship and our team finished the season 27-11.

The Robinson School saved parents over $2.3 million in tuition and fees. Some of the colleges and universities those student athletes currently attend are Marshall University, College of NJ, Manhattan College, Lincoln University, Concordia College, Morris College, Morgan State University, Nyack College and University of Maryland Eastern Shore to name a few.

In 2011-12 The Robinson School  finished 23-9 ranked #19 in the nation www.usprepbasketball.com and all 17 student-athletes received scholarships. The schools they currently attend are University of North Carolina-Central, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Coppin State University, University of West Alabama, Salem International University(WV), Lincoln University(PA),  Mid-Continent University(KY) Johnson and Wales College (NC), Caldwell College, and Virginia State University.

The greatest accomplishment is that our student athletes received qualifying scores on their ACT standardized test to accept scholarship offers. Currently, 10 of the 12 student athletes have  committed to colleges for the following year the schools are Quinnipiac University, Jackson State, NC A&T, Concordia College(AL), Bloomfield College and Dalton State(GA) to name a few.

Robinson has been very instrumental in the development of a host of high school and collegiate basketball players. He provides individual instruction to basketball players of all ages. He has established the VDR Educational and Athletic Group, Inc to assist inner city youth with academics and athletics. He continually strives to get inner city males and females basketball scholarships thru his various contacts with college coaches from the junior college to Division 1 level. Robinson founded the Vincent Robinson Basketball Academy Summer Camp in 2000 which teaches fundamental basketball to youths ages 5-15 www.vincentrobinsonbasketball.com Aside from his basketball ties ~ He is the president of Positive Influences Inc. a mentoring and behavioral modification organization and Supreme Stategies a non-profit organization thats speaks to youths about gang prevention, teen pregnancy, conflict resolution and financial literacy. He is also a certified CitiGroup Financial Education Counselor and he guides his efforts to further help people become financially stable.
